Catherine Ann PL. Sacopon is currently a Science Research Specialist II at the National Tuberculosis
Reference Laboratory of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. She supervises the Quality
Assurance Unit of NTRL, serves as the department’s Biosafety Officer, and currently the deputy chair
of the Bio-Risk Management Committee of RITM.

Ms Sacopon is a registered medical technologist, she finished her bachelor’s degree in Medical
Technology at Centro Escolar University Manila, and Master in Public Health degree at the University
of the Philippines, Manila. She is a Certified Biosafety Officer (PhABOT) and a Certified Professional in
Biorisk Management and Biorisk Assessment by the International Federation of Biosafety
Associations (IFBA).

She is a certified trainer for Infectious Substance Shipping. She has conducted several lectures and
training for biorisk management and infectious substance shipping.
