Ms. Dacasin is a Senior Science Research Specialist under the Department of Virology, specifically
designated at the National Reference Laboratory for Influenza and other respiratory viruses. She is
currently involved in the integration and expansion of the ILI, SARI and COVID-19 surveillance in the
country.

Ms. Dacasin is a medical technologist by profession and earned her Master’s Degree in Medical
Technology at the University of Santo Tomas. She is a certified biosafety professional in Biorisk
Management (IFBA) and infectious substance shipping. She is an active member of the Institute’s

Biosafety Committee, an experienced trainer and resource speaker for various local and international
scientific events and conducted Biosafety and Biosecurity trainings as well as other training organized
by the committee and the institute.
She has authored and co-authored publications on Biosafety risk assessments and respiratory viruses
such as adenoviruses.
